CREATE YOUR CONTACTS LIST

How organized are your Gmail contacts?  With Google Apps, you can easily organize your contacts so you can quickly find someone.  Use the Contact Manager to help you manage your contacts in an online address book.

Email a Contact Using Auto Complete

You can easily find email addresses when composing a mail message by beginning to type the address in a compose window's To field.  Gmail knows the addresses of all your contacts.  It also remembers addresses of any other people you've corresponded with.

Choose Addresses from a List
To see a list of all your contacts when composing a mail message, open the contact picker. Here, you can browse all your personal or global contacts, and you can search for contacts using the auto-complete feature (start typing to see a matching list of addresses).

To open the contacts picker, click the Compose, then click To:

To organize your email contacts into groups, scroll to the bottom of the contacts list and click New Group.

You can also Click Gmail at the top-left corner of your Gmail page, then choose Contacts.
Select contacts that you want to add to a group, Click the Groups button, then Create new. Enter the name of the group. Click ok.

Once New Group is clicked, a box will appear and you can name the group whatever you want. I have groups for each of my class periods. That way, when I want to email all students in my 1st period class, I simply start to key 1st Period and the group appears with all 24 students in the group. All students in my 1st period class will receive the same email.

How did I get the 24 students into my 1st period group?

  1. Select the contacts in the Contacts list.
  2. Click the Groups button.
  3. Search for the person you want to add to the group
  4. Select the group you'd like to add the contact to, or select Create new to create a new group.
  5. If you have multiple addresses saved for a contact, you can choose which address should belong to the contact group by opening the contact and clicking the small arrow next to the group you'd like to modify.
