A recent update to Google Docs, now makes it easier for people to find and copy the file or folder link for sharing.
When you want to share a file or folder, click the blue Share button at the top right. You will now see a Get sharable link button and a grey icon.
You can change the options to comments or make edits, by changing the setting in the drop down from Can view to Can comment or Can edit.
